扞城（寒旦反杜注左傳禦也說文從手干聲或作桿）。

"Defend the city" (扞城): [扞 is pronounced with the fanqie] han + dan (han). Du [Yu]'s commentary on the Zuo zhuan says: 'It means to ward off.' The Shuowen jiezi says: 'It has the hand radical (手) and gan (干) phonetic.' It is also written as 桿.
