稾秸（上高老反下間八反應劭注漢書云稭謂槀本也說文禾槀去其皮祭天以為𱾰也並從禾高吉皆聲秸從皆作稭）。

Stalks and straw (稾秸): The first character [稾 is] fanqie 高老; the second character [秸 is] fanqie 間八. Ying Shao's commentary to the Hanshu says: '稭 refers to stalks of straw.' The Shuowen says: 'Rice stalks stripped of their bark and used as mats for sacrificial offerings to Heaven.' Both take 禾 as semantic classifier, with 高, 吉, and 皆 respectively as phonetics. 秸 written with 皆 is also written as 稭.
