祧墠（上眺彫反下禪闡反孔注尚書云築土為壇除地曰墠考聲墠謂除也為祭處也說文從土單亦聲）。

祧墠 (The first character is pronounced *tiào-diāo* [tiāo]; the second is pronounced *chán-chǎn* [shàn]. Kong [Anguo]'s commentary to the *Shangshu* says: Building up earth to form an altar is called *tán*, clearing the ground is called *shàn*. The *Kaosheng* says: *Shàn* means to clear away, serving as a place of sacrifice. The *Shuowen* states: It is formed from 'earth' with *dān* also phonetic).
