鑒能（甲懺反廣疋云鑒謂之鏡也考聲夜以照月便水也說文鑒諸所以取明水於月也從金臨聲臨音公纜反集作鑑亦通考聲或作鑒也）。

鑒能 (fanqie: 甲 + 懺. The Guangya says: 'Jian (鑒) refers to a mirror.' The Kaosheng says: 'Used at night to reflect the moon and attract water.' The Shuowen says: 'A jian is a vessel used to take bright water from the moon; it has the metal radical and lin phonetic.' Lin is fanqie: 公 + 纜. The collected text has 鑑, which also serves. The Kaosheng also writes it as 鑒).
