鳳琯 (Guan-wan [guǎn]. The Da Dai Liji states: 'Yu Shun succeeded Yao by heavenly virtue, and the Queen Mother of the West presented him with her white jade flute.' The Gujin zhengzi states that guan refers to using jade to make a flute. A scholar of Lingyang in the Han dynasty found a sheng reed-pipe beneath the shrine of Dao Shun and took it to be the king's guan flute, whereby spirits and men were harmonized and phoenixes came to display their deportment. It takes the jade classifier [玉] with guan [官] as phonetic.)
