High and dry: 塏 [kai] (開 + 改 fanqie. The Kaosheng says: "'Shuangkai' is the appearance of land that is high and dry." Du [Yu's] commentary on the Zuozhuan says: "'Shuang' means bright; 'kai' means dry." The Shuowen jiezi analyzes it: from radical 土 'earth', with 豈 phonetic).
