Handan 菡𧂄 (The first character is pronounced with the fanqie phonetic spelling han + gan [hàn]; the second is pronounced tan + gan [dàn]. The Erya says: "The lotus is called the fuyu; its unopened flower is the handan, and when fully opened it is called furong." It takes 艸 as radical and 凾 as phonetic, and is also written as 莟; 函 is pronounced with the fanqie ya + xian [xiàn]. 𧂄 takes 艸 as radical and 閻 as phonetic; it is also written as 萏. The collected edition gives 𰰘欿, which do not form genuine characters).
