Feud and enmity (讎隙; the upper character is sh[òu] + [y]óu fanqie; the lower character is q[īng] + [n]ì fanqie. Jia's Commentary on the Guoyu states: '隙 (xì) means a rupture.' Gu Yewang states: '隙 means a fissure; it also means harboring resentment.' The Shuowen jiezi states: 'It has the radical 阝 and the phonetic 𡭽, pronounced the same as above.' The collected editions write it as 郄, which is a person's surname and does not mean enmity).
