兇殘（上許容反考聲云頑也說文云惡也從人在凶下也下昨竿反韻譜云傷也害也說文從歹戔聲歹音五割反戔音殘易曰束帛戔戔也）。

兇殘 (cruel and ferocious: the first character is *x[ǔ]-r[óng]* fan; the Kaosheng states: “Obstinate.” The Shuowen jiezi states: “Evil; it is classified under 人 [person] below 凶.” The second character is *zu[ó]-g[ān]* fan; the Yunpu states: “To injure; to harm.” The Shuowen jiezi states that it is classified under 歹 with 戔 phonetic; 歹 is pronounced *w[ǔ]-g[ē]* fan; 戔 is pronounced 殘 [*cán*]. The Yijing says: “Bundles of silk, modest and slight (戔戔)”).
