般涅盤（上音補末反梵語也舊云泥洹竝訛略也正云摩訶波利儞嚩喃此云大圓寂也謂三點圓伊四德圓果等是也）。

般涅盤 (The first character is pronounced 補 + 末 fanqie. Sanskrit: parinirvāṇa. The older translations had 泥洹, both of which were erroneous abbreviations. The correct Sanskrit is mahāparinirvāṇa [摩訶波利儞嚩喃], translated here as 'great complete cessation' [mahāparinirvāṇa], referring to the three dots of the perfect letter 'i', the four virtues of the perfect fruition, and so forth).
