揀擇（上姦眼反文字集略云擇也從手東聲說文作東分別也從束八下音澤韻英云擇亦揀也從手澤省聲也）。

揀擇 (The first character is pronounced 姦 + 眼 fanqie. The Wenzi jilüe says: 'To choose.' It takes 手 as semantic and 東 as phonetic. The Shuowen jiezi gives the form 東, meaning to distinguish, taking 束 and 八 as components. The second character is pronounced 澤. The Yunying says: 'Ze also means to select.' It takes 手 as semantic and 澤 abbreviated as phonetic).
