洗滌（上先禮反古文亦作洒切韻云盡也浴洗亦肅敬皃下徒歷反玉篇除也韻英淨也毛詩曰十月滌場傳云滌掃也）。

Washing and cleansing (洗滌: the first character has the fanqie 先禮 [xian + li / xǐ]; in the ancient script it was also written as 洒. The Qieyun says: "To exhaust; bathing and washing; also the appearance of reverent solemnity." The second character has the fanqie 徒歷 [tu + li / dí]. The Yupian says: "To eliminate." The Yunying says: "To purify." The Mao Shijing says: "In the tenth month they cleanse the threshing grounds"; the commentary says: "'滌' means to sweep clean.")
