該練（上古哀反廣雅云咸也包也切韻云備也古文作眩字下練字桂苑珠叢云煮絲令熟曰練鎔金作鍊字）。

Comprehensive mastery (該練: the first character has the fanqie 古 + 哀. The Guangya says: "It means all; to contain." The Qieyun says: "It means complete." The ancient script writes it as 眩. As for the second character, lian (練), the Guiyuan zhucong says: "Boiling silk to make it ripe is called lian; smelting metal is written with the character lian (鍊)").
