嘷吠（上胡刀反古文作獋說文玉篇咆吠犬鳴也切韻熊虎聲也經文作號悲哭聲非嘷吠義）。

嘷吠 (Howling and barking: the upper character has the fanqie 胡刀; the ancient script writes it as 獋; the Shuowen and Yupian say to roar and bark, the cries of dogs; the Qieyun says the sound of bears and tigers; the scripture text writes it as 號, the sound of weeping bitterly, which is not the meaning of howling and barking).
