極爆（上極字說文從木亟聲亟從二人又口云人在天地之間所急者莫越手口二即天地也勹古人字又即手也下補教反說文爆灼也廣雅熱也考聲燒柴作聲火烈也韻英云火灹也韻詮火烈聲也）。

極爆 (for the first character, 極, the Shuowen says it takes 木 as radical and 亟 as phonetic. 亟 takes 二, 人, 又, and 口, meaning that between heaven and earth, nothing is more urgent for humanity than the hands and mouth. 二 signifies heaven and earth; 勹 is the ancient character for 人; 又 is the hand. For the second character, [bào], fanqie 補教 [b- + -(j)iæu = bjæu/bào]. The Shuowen says: “爆 means to scorch.” The Guangya says: “It means heat.” The Kaosheng says: “The sound of firewood burning; a fierce blaze.” The Yunying says: “A leaping flame.” The Yunquan says: “The sound of fierce fire.”)
