摩訶迦羅（梵語也摩訶此云大迦羅此云黑經云摩訶迦羅大黑天神唐梵雙舉也此神青黑雲色壽無量歲八臂各執異仗貫穿髑髏以為瓔珞作大忿怒形足下有地神女天以兩手承足者也）。

Mahākāla (摩訶迦羅: Sanskrit; *mahā* means great; *kāla* means black; the sūtra says: "Mahākāla, the Great Black Heavenly Spirit", giving both Chinese and Sanskrit together; this deity is the colour of a dark blue-black cloud and has an immeasurable lifespan; with eight arms, each wielding a different weapon, strung skulls serve as his necklace; he assumes a greatly wrathful form, with the Earth Goddess beneath his feet holding his feet with both hands).
