顰眉（上符真反考聲顰蹙眉也下莫丕反說文云目上毛也像眉之形也玉篇云𮄊眉而聽也經文從口作嚬笑也非顰眉字也作眉眉皆通用已久時世共傳也）。

顰眉 (The first character has the fanqie fu + zhen; the Kaosheng says: “Pin means to furrow the eyebrows.” The second character has the fanqie mo + pi; the Shuowen says: “The hair above the eyes; it resembles the shape of eyebrows.” The Yupian says: “To raise the eyebrows and listen.” In the scripture text it is written with the mouth radical as 嚬, which means to smile and is not the character for pinmei. Writing it as 眉 or 眉 have both been mutually used for a long time, transmitted together through the generations.)
