蛇蠍（上社遮反下軒謁反方言云自關而西泰晉之間謂𱿴𧔣或謂之蠍蠍即四方通語釋名云蠍歇也謂歇其尾也字從虫歇聲經文作蝎爾雅音曷蝤蠐也）。

蛇蠍 (The upper character has the fanqie 社遮 [sh- + -(ch)a = shé]. The lower character has the fanqie 軒謁 [x- + -(ʔ)at = xiē]. The Fangyan says: 'From the Pass westward, between Qin and Jin, it is called 𱿴𧔣 or called 蠍.' 蠍 is the term used throughout all four quarters. The Shiming says: '蠍 means 歇 [xiē, to rest], meaning that it rests its tail.' The character is formed with the classifier 虫 and phonetic 歇. In the sūtra text it is written as 蝎, which the Erya pronounces 曷 [hé], meaning a grub).
