插箭（上楚洽反切韻㓨入也又作插皆非說文從手臿作插臿音同上以干入曰也下煎線反俗字也正作[筣-禾+离]本竹名也似葦而藂生可為矢笴因名矢為箭從竹前聲笴音干旦反）。

Inserting an arrow (插箭: the upper character has the fanqie *chǔ* + *qià* [chā]; the *Qieyun* says, "To pierce into." It is also written as 插, both of which are incorrect; the *Shuowen* categorizes it under "hand" with *chā* (臿) as 插; *chā* has the same sound as above, meaning to insert a pole. The lower character has the fanqie *jiān* + *xiàn* [jiàn], which is a popular character; properly it is written as [筣-禾+离], originally the name of a bamboo resembling reeds and growing in clusters, suitable for making arrow shafts; hence arrows came to be called *jiàn*; it is categorized under "bamboo" with *qián* phonetic; *gǎn* has the fanqie *gān* + *dàn* [gǎn]).
