持鍬（下七消反俗字也亦作鍫正作鐰古文作[(序-予+非)*斗]爾雅云[(序-予+非)*斗]謂之疀郭注云鍬鍤字也方言云趙魏之間謂鍤為鍬江東呼鐅巴蜀謂鍬為鍤皆方俗異名也鐅音片蔑反鍤音插也）。

持鍬 (The lower character is 七 + 消 [qiāo]; a popular character; also written as 鍫; properly written as 鐰; in ancient script written as [(序-予+非)*斗]; the Erya says: "[(序-予+非)*斗] is called a spade (jié)"; Guo's commentary says: "Characters for spade (qiāo) and shovel (chā)"; the Fangyan says: "Between Zhao and Wei, a shovel (chā) is called a qiāo; east of the Yangtze it is called a biē; in Ba and Shu, a qiāo is called a chā; these are all dialectal variations"; 鐅 is pronounced 片 + 蔑 [piē]; 鍤 is pronounced chā).
