蘿蔔（上音羅下蒲北反俗字也爾雅作蘆菔郭璞注云蘆菔蕪菁屬也紫花大葉根可啖也本草云性冷利五藏能除五藏中惡氣服之令人白淨又制麵毒若飲食過度可生食之）。

蘿蔔 (the first character is pronounced luó; the second is p[ú] + b[ěi] fanqie; a vernacular form. In the Erya it is written 蘆菔. Guo Pu's commentary notes: "Lúfú is of the turnip class; it has purple flowers and large leaves, and its root is edible." The Bencao says: "Its nature is cold and clearing to the five viscera, and it can remove bad qi from within the five viscera; taking it makes a person fair and pure. It also counteracts flour poisons. If one has overeaten, it may be eaten raw").
