臭穢（上尺救反切韻凡氣總名也考聲云腥臭也說文從犬自自即鼻也會意字古文作殠俗作臰經文從口作𭊴無此字）。

臭穢 (The upper character is 尺 + 救 [chòu]; the Qieyun says it is the general term for all smells; the Kaosheng says it means rank and foul-smelling; the Shuowen says it is formed from 犬 (dog) and 自; 自 means nose; an ideogrammic compound; in ancient script written as 殠; popularly written as 臰; the sūtra text writes it with 口 as 𭊴, which is not a genuine character).
