甘脃（上甘美也甞也說文作曰口含一也下七醉反玉篇弱也考聲云嫩也古今正字從肉絕省聲言肉凝易破也經文多從危作脆俗字也）。

甘脃 [Sweet and crisp]: The upper [character] means sweet and delicious; to taste. The Shuowen writes it as 曰 with 一 in the mouth. The lower [character] has the fanqie 七醉 (qī + zuì = cuì); the Yupian says, “Fragile.” The Kaosheng says, “Tender.” The Gujin zhengzi derives it from 肉 with the abbreviated phonetic 絕, meaning that when meat coagulates it easily breaks. In sūtra texts it is often written with 危 as 脆, which is a vulgar character.
