分析（上府文反切韻割也賦也與也考聲分遍也說文云別也從八從刀分割之形下先戚反爾雅曰析木之間漢津也說文破木也從斤斤可以破木會意字）。

Fēnxī (analysis / dividing and splitting) (the first character has the fanqie fǔ + wén. The Qieyun says: "To sever, to apportion, to give." The Kaosheng says: "Fēn means ubiquitous." The Shuowen jiezi says: "To separate; formed with 'eight' and 'knife', depicting the shape of severing." The second character has the fanqie xiān + qī. The Erya says: "Between Xīmù [Splitting Tree constellation] is the Han River ford." The Shuowen jiezi says: "To split wood; formed with an axe, for an axe can cleave wood; an ideogrammic compound").
