根栽（上古痕反切韻云根枑也爾雅云天根互也郭注云角元下繫於氐若木之有根也下柤才反說文種也從木哉省聲律文作栽俗字無據也）。

Gēnzāi (roots and seedlings) (the first character has the fanqie gǔ + hén. The Qieyun says: "A tree root." The Erya says: "Tiāngēn is hù." Guo's commentary says: "The horn star connects below to dǐ, like a tree having roots." The second character has the fanqie zhā + cái. The Shuowen jiezi says: "To plant; formed with the 'wood' radical and an abbreviated zāi phonetic." The Vinaya text writes 栽, which is an unfounded popular form).
