噫！微渤澥，不足以容翻空之濤；微廣漠，不足以展垂天之翮。今法師出廣長舌相，於薩婆若海搏扶搖羊角於第一義天，雖古高僧不復多讓。頃修法師塑像，得其弟子文辯大師，師緒狀其行於像藏之內。蒙不揆無似，僣為筆削，以標幟之者，蓋欲揚摧宗祖之德善，子孫知而傳之云爾。

Alas! Without the Bohai Sea, there would be no space to contain waves that churn the sky; without the vast wilderness, there would be no room to spread wings that drape from heaven. Now the Dharma Master displayed the mark of the broad and long tongue, soared with whirlwinds into the heaven of supreme truth within the ocean of sarvajñā; even the ancient eminent monks could hardly surpass him. Recently, while repairing the Dharma Master's sculpted image, his disciple Great Master Wenbian was found to have recorded his conduct inside the image's repository. Incompetent and unworthy as I am, I have presumed to edit and polish it as a commemoration, wishing only to extol the virtues and goodness of our ancestral master so that future generations may know and transmit them.
