【迦陵頻伽】此云妙聲鳥。《大論》云：「如迦羅頻伽鳥，在㲉（口角）中未出，發聲微妙，勝於餘鳥。」《正法念經》云：「山名曠野，其中多有迦陵頻伽，出妙音聲。如是美音，若天若人緊那羅等，無能及者，唯除如來音聲。」

[Kalaviṅka] This is translated as a bird of wondrous voice. The Da zhidu lun says: 'Like the kalaviṅka bird, which even while in its egg-shell before emerging emits a wondrous sound that surpasses all other birds.' The Zhengfa nian jing says: 'There is a mountain named Wilderness, wherein are many kalaviṅkas emitting wondrous sounds. Such beautiful voices cannot be matched by gods, humans, kiṃnaras, and the like, excepting only the voice of the Tathāgata.'
