【拘摩羅】《西域記》云：「唐言童子。」《釋名》云：「十五曰童，故《禮》有陽童。牛羊之無角曰童，山無草木曰童，言人未冠者似之云耳。」

[Kumāra]: The Xiyu ji says: "In the language of the Tang, it means youth (tongzi)." The Shiming says: "At fifteen one is called a tong; hence the Rites has yangtong (adolescent youth). Hornless cattle and sheep are called tong; mountains devoid of grass and trees are called tong; this is said because humans who have not yet capped resemble them."
