[Rudrākṣa cluster]: Zizhong says: 'Translated here as beads threaded on a cord. Beginningless ignorance perfuses to form seeds; seeds must produce fruit; seeds continually generate seeds, perfusing without interruption.' Zhenji says: 'The name of the *akṣa* tree. Its fruit resembles a nutgall; when growing, it always has three berries sharing a single stalk, which illustrates that delusion, karma, and suffering are all three fully present at the same time. As for delusion, karma, and suffering: delusion is the path of defilement; karma is the path of action; suffering refers to the path of suffering. Moreover, these three paths pervade the three lands. Thus the *Fuxing* says: "The three paths of segmented [birth and death] mean that delusions of view and thought are the path of defilement; defilements nourishing karma are the path of karma; and inducing rebirth within the realms is the path of suffering. The three paths of expedience mean that dust-and-sand delusions are the path of defilement; pure karma is called the path of karma; and the birth and death of transformation is called the path of suffering. The three paths of real reward mean that fundamental ignorance is the path of defilement; karma that is neither defiled nor uncontaminated is the path of karma; and transformation in that land is called the path of suffering."'"
