[The Siddhaṃ chapter (悉曇章)] The text of the Siddhaṃ chapter in the Western Regions was composed by Brahmā. From antiquity to the present, there has never been any different writing system; there are only slight differences in the strokes and dots. *Siddhaṃ* is translated here as "produced by accomplishment". The Siddhaṃ chapter is the root that produces letters, and is referred to as the "half" [word]. The letters of the other chapters are complete, and are called the "full" [word]. Furthermore, all twelve chapters are called "half", while the other sūtras, treatises, records, and treatises are called "full". This is analogous to how, in this land, all characters are produced from the thirty-six initials. Zezhou says: "Among the Sanskrit chapters, there are twelve chapters; the Siddhaṃ chapter is considered the first, containing a total of fifty-two letters. The two words *siddhaṃ* are the general title of the chapter, and the rest forms the body of the chapter, namely *a*, *ā*, up to *ḷ*, *ḹ*, *ḷ*, *ḹ*."
