有宋劉氏，雖孝武大明六年，暫制拜君，尋依先政。中原元魏太武真君七年，道士寇謙、司徒崔皓，讒於佛法。帝然之。遂滅佛法。逃僧梟斬。後延曇始，頂禮悔過，廢經五載，帝被癘疾，遂誅崔氏，還興佛法。

Under the Liu Song, although Emperor Xiaowu in the sixth year of Daming temporarily instituted homage to the ruler, he soon returned to the earlier policy. In the Central Plains, in the seventh year of the Zhenjun era of Emperor Taiwu of the Northern Wei, the Daoist Kou Qianzhi and Minister over the Masses Cui Hao slandered the Buddhist Dharma. The Emperor agreed with them and thereupon destroyed the Buddhist Dharma, decapitating fleeing monks. Later, when Tanshi was invited and the Emperor bowed with his head to the ground to repent his errors—after the scriptures had been abolished for five years—the Emperor was afflicted with leprosy, so he executed the Cui clan and restored the Buddhist Dharma.
