唐祖太武出沙汰佛道詔。太宗制拜君親勅，威秀、道宣等上表，及臣僚書，國議不行。

The founding ancestor of the Tang, Taiwu, issued an edict purging Buddhism and Daoism. Emperor Taizong decreed by imperial rescript that monks should pay homage to their rulers and parents; Weixiu, Daoxuan, and others submitted memorials, as did the court ministers, and the state debate resulted in the decree not being enacted.
