[*Nidhyapti*]: translated here as deep entry, another name for greed (rāga). Delighting in and clinging to [objects] is called greed. There are two kinds of people capable of greed: first, those with power; second, those without power. As for the objects of greed, the *Chanmen* explains three kinds: 1. External greed and desire, where men grasp at women and women grasp at men. 2. Internal and external greed and desire, where one externally grasps at the physical marks of men and women, and also grasps at the appearance and shape of one's own internal body. 3. Greed and desire omnipresent in all places, where sentient beings cling to every place. The *Kośa* explains four kinds: 1. Visible colors, meaning blue, yellow, red, and white. 2. Shapes, meaning long, short, square, round, etc. 3. Sublime touch. 4. Offerings and service. The *Dazhidulun* explains six kinds: 1. Clinging to color, whether red or white, yellow or black. 2. Clinging to physical form, such as delicate skin, slender fingers, elongated eyes, and high eyebrows. 3. Clinging to deportment and movement, such as sitting, rising, walking, stopping, bowing, looking up and down, raising eyebrows, fluttering eyelashes, intimacy, and massage. 4. Clinging to speech, such as soft voices, beautiful words, and complying with another's intentions and wishes. 5. Clinging to smoothness and delicacy, such as supple skin and soft flesh, a body cool when hot and warm when cold. 6. Clinging to the marks of human form, whether male or female.
