西域五竺，經尚天書；東夏九州，字法鳥跡。自古罕覿，因譯方傳，琅函具存，此集略辨。

The Five Indias of the Western Regions prize the scriptures in heavenly script; the nine provinces of the Eastern Xia base their characters on the tracks of birds. From antiquity they were rarely seen, and were transmitted only through translation; the jade cases preserve them completely, and this collection briefly discriminates them.
