夫《翻譯名義集》者，姑蘇景德寺普潤大師法雲之所編也。此書來于此國也，蓋于茲有年矣，以故往往鋟梓而傳于世亦尚矣。粵有唐本，以之點撿已廣之本，則多有脫簡者，是故考訂而補其闕略也。又傍加倭點者，其點不一準，請於處處之學，校而寫之者也。定知有是處亦有非處，仰而俟明者之添削也。聊命工壽木，以廣其傳焉。

As for the *Collection of Translated Names and Meanings*, it was compiled by Great Master Purun Fayun of Jingde Temple in Gusu. This book came to this country many years ago; hence it was printed and handed down through the generations from early on. Now, comparing a Tang [dynasty Chinese] edition against the expanded edition, there were many missing tablets; therefore, it was collated and revised to supplement what was omitted. Furthermore, Japanese reading marks were added at the side; as these marks were not uniform, scholars from various places were requested to collate and transcribe them. Knowing for certain that there are correct points and errors, we respectfully await discerning people to make additions and corrections. We have engaged craftsmen to carve the printing blocks in order to broaden its transmission.
