【鉢和羅】應法師據《自誓經》云：「鉢和蘭，亦梵語輕重耳。此云自恣食。」應法師云：「坐臈臈餅，謂夏罷獻佛之餅，名佛臈食。又西方以佛從天降下王宮之日，供養佛食，名佛臈食。」《會正記》云：「即自恣日食，待佛比丘。」

[Pravāraṇa] Master Ying, relying on the Zishi jing, says: "Pravāraṇā is simply a difference of light and heavy pronunciation in Sanskrit. In Chinese, it means the 'food of self-admonition (pravāraṇā).'" Master Ying says: "The cake of the monastic rains retreat refers to the cakes offered to the Buddha at the conclusion of the summer retreat, called the Buddha's retreat food. Moreover, in the western regions, on the day the Buddha descended from heaven to the royal palace, food offered to the Buddha was called the Buddha's retreat food." The Huizheng ji says: "This is the food on the day of pravāraṇā, awaiting the Buddha and the bhikṣus."
