Sanskrit *tathāgata*, also called *dātājiājié*, was translated in the Later Qin as 'Thus-Come' (如來, Tathāgata). The Diamond Sūtra says: 'Coming from nowhere and going nowhere, hence he is called the Tathāgata.' This explains it in terms of the dharmakāya. The Turning of the Dharma Wheel Treatise says: 'The supreme truth is called "Thus" (*tathā*), and right enlightenment is called "Come" (*āgata*).' This explains it in terms of the saṃbhogakāya. The Tattvasiddhi-śāstra says: 'Riding the path of reality (*tathatā*) to come and attain right enlightenment, hence he is called the Tathāgata.' This explains it in terms of the nirmāṇakāya.
