[Agada]: Here translated as universal remover, being able to remove all diseases; it is also translated as the complete medicine. The Avataṃsaka Sūtra says: 'As for agada medicine, if sentient beings behold it, all their diseases are completely eliminated.' The Lüchao says: 'For supporting life, nothing surpasses medicine. Although medicine is a general name, it is essentially divided into four: first, time-bound medicine, which the holy teachings permit taking from morning until midday, conforming to the matter and answering to the Dharma, incurring no sin; second, non-time-bound medicine, such as various syrups and broths prepared for sickness, permitted to be taken outside of the designated time without transgression within limits; third, seven-day medicine, based on efficacy and following the rule, limited to its specific period and used up to seven days to bring deep benefit; fourth, lifelong medicine, whose potency is mild, so that prolonged consumption is permitted to eliminate afflictions. "Form" has three aspects: first, the exhaustion of the medicine's form; second, the exhaustion of the disease's form; third, the exhaustion of the retributive life-span's form.'
