[Kāya]: In Sanskrit there are four terms: first, kāya; second, śarīra; third, deha; fourth, aṅga. Here it is translated as "aggregation." The Yogācārabhūmi says: "It is that which all the sense faculties accompany and is pervasive aggregation; therefore it is named 'body' (kāya), which has the meaning of aggregation and the meaning of being a support." It is also translated as "part," meaning the bodily limbs. The Śūraṅgama-sūtra says: "The body is like the hollow of a waist drum." Or it is said: "The body is like an upright halberd or spear." The Anban shouyi jing says: "What is called body (shen)? What is called bodily form (ti)? Bones and flesh make the body; the six feelings joined together make the bodily form."
