爾時迦葉心大如海澄靜不動。良久而答。汝等所說實如所言。世間不久無智盲冥。於是大迦葉默然受請。諸天禮已。忽然不現各自還去。

At that time, Kāśyapa's mind was vast as the ocean, clear, still, and unmoved. After a long while, he replied: 'What you say is truly as spoken: before long, the world will be blind and ignorant without wisdom.' Thereupon Mahākāśyapa silently accepted the request. Having bowed, the devas suddenly disappeared and each returned [to their realms].
