大秦弘始十三年歲次豕韋九月八日。尚書令姚顯請出此論。至來年九月十五日訖。外國法師拘摩羅耆婆。手執胡本口自傳譯。曇晷筆受。

On the eighth day of the ninth month in the thirteenth year of the Hongshi era of the Great Qin, the cyclical year being Shiwei, Yao Xian, Director of the Department of State Affairs, requested the production of this treatise; it was concluded on the fifteenth day of the ninth month of the following year. The foreign Dharma Master Kumārajīva held the Indian text in hand and translated it orally himself, with Tan'gui serving as scribal recorder.
