11.37

僧盡共思惟　一切生死過
求於度世道　若精進持戒
同亦當歸死　不精進持戒
同亦當歸死　寧持戒而死
不犯戒而生　譬如駃水流
日月不常住　人命疾於彼
去者不復還

Let the saṅgha contemplate together
All the faults of birth and death,
Seeking the way to transcend the world.
If one vigorously upholds the precepts,
One will likewise return to death;
If one does not vigorously uphold the precepts,
One will likewise return to death.
Rather die while upholding the precepts
Than live while violating them!
Just as a swift current flows,
The sun and moon do not abide;
Human life is swifter than they,
And what departs does not return again.
