11.57

齊永明十年歲次實沈三月十日。禪林比丘尼淨秀。聞僧伽跋陀羅法師於廣州共僧禕法師譯出梵本善見毘婆沙律一部十八卷。京師未有。渴仰欲見。僧伽跋陀其年五月還南。憑上寫來。以十一年歲次大梁四月十日。得律還都。頂禮執讀敬寫流布。仰惟世尊泥洹已來年載。至七月十五日受歲竟。於眾前謹下一點。年年如此。感慕心悲不覺流淚。

On the tenth day of the third month in the tenth year of the Yongming reign of the Qi, the year being Shishen [492 CE], the bhikṣuṇī Jingxiu of Zhanlin heard that Master Saṅghabhadra, together with Master Sengyi in Guangzhou, had translated from a Sanskrit text one set of the Samantapāsādikā Vinaya-vibhāṣā in eighteen scrolls, which was not yet available in the capital, and she yearned to see it. In the fifth month of that year, when Saṅghabhadra returned south, she relied on him to copy and bring it; on the tenth day of the fourth month in the eleventh year, the year being Daliang [493 CE], she obtained the Vinaya and returned to the capital, prostrating, holding, reading, reverently copying, and circulating it. Looking back upon the years elapsed since the World-Honoured One's nirvāṇa, every year upon completing the pravāraṇā on the fifteenth day of the seventh month, a dot was carefully marked before the assembly, year after year without fail. Moved by longing and sorrow, she wept unconsciously.
