The reciter of the precepts then says, 'The saṅgha is assembled in harmony. Those who have not received the full precepts, go out! What shall the saṅgha do?' (The assembly of monks gathers in harmony; having all received the precepts without transgression, what business does the saṅgha have?) The response is: 'Recite the precepts.' (The saṅgha responds, 'Poṣadha.') 'May those who have not come convey their purity.' (All persons should report the purity of those who are to come; the reply is, 'Report purity.') Having declared it, [he says], 'Of spring, summer, or winter, such-and-such number of days have already passed.'
