I, Sengyou, have investigated the old catalogues: the Mahāsaṃnipāta-sūtra (Daji jing) was translated in Western Liangzhou by the Indian śramaṇa Dharmakṣema during the reign of Emperor An of the Jin. It has twenty-nine rolls, with twelve sections from beginning to end that together form one scripture: first, the Chapter on Necklaces; second, the Chapter on the King Sovereign over Dhāraṇīs; third, the Chapter on the Precious Maiden; fourth, the Chapter on Unblinking; fifth, the Chapter on Sāgaramati; sixth, the Chapter on Wordlessness; seventh, the Chapter on the Inexpressible; eighth, the Chapter on Ākāśagarbha; ninth, the Chapter on the Jewel Banner; tenth, the Chapter on the Ākāśa Eye; eleventh, the Chapter on Jewel Topknot; twelfth, the Chapter on Akṣayamati. We do not see that any other person separately translated it; yet today, separate recensions consist of only twenty-four rolls.
