The Marquis of Anyang, Da Juqu, paternal cousin of the King of Hexi, received this at the Gomati Great Monastery in Khotan from the Indian monk and Mahāyāna śramaṇa Buddhasena. That master's natural talents were extraordinary and unrivaled across all kingdoms; he recited fifty million verses and was thoroughly illumined in the methods of dhyāna. Comprehensively knowledgeable in internal and external learning, there was no text he had not mastered. Therefore the people of the world all called him the 'Lion among Men'. Juqu received it personally from him face to face, remembering and reciting it without impediment. On the eighth day of the ninth month in the second year of the Xiaojian era of the Song dynasty, he transcribed and produced this scripture at the Zhuyuan Monastery, finishing on the twenty-fifth day of that month. The nun Huijun served as the dānapati.
