On the tenth day of the ninth month in the tenth year of the Yongming reign era, the Dharma Master Guṇavṛddhi of Central India extracted parables from the twelve divisions of the sūtra-piṭaka and gathered them into a single work, comprising one hundred stories in all. Master Saṃghasena of Tianzhu, who practiced the Great Vehicle, compiled and expounded this sūtra for beginner students.
