Toward the end of the Tianjian era of the Liang, there was Shi Daolin of Quanlin Monastery in Fuyang County. He entered the monastic order in his youth and maintained moral discipline, reciting the Vimalakīrtinirdeśa-sūtra. The monastery had troublesome ghosts and monsters, but ever since Daolin came to reside there, they ceased. When a disciple had his head crushed down into his chest by a collapsed building, Daolin prayed for him. In the night, he saw two Western monks pull out the head, and by morning the disciple was restored to health. Daolin also held a feast for the holy monk, spreading fresh white silk across the bed. When the feast concluded, human footprints were seen on the silk, each three feet long. The whole assembly submitted with reverence to his miraculous resonance.
