Ever since the teaching covered the Divine Land, time has passed across nine eras, dynasties have been divided between legitimate and illegitimate, and the lands mingled between Chinese and barbarian. Thus the Five Liang, Four Yan, Three Qin, Two Zhao, Xia, and Shu were situated in remote corners, while the Jin and Song held the lands south of the Yangtze. The translation and transmission of scripture divisions emerged according to their locales. Above, I have listed both peripheral and legitimate states to record the provenance of their transmissions and translations. Other states are not mentioned because they lacked the propagation of the Dharma. May later readers understand the reasons for this.
