The śramaṇa Tanmote (which means “Dharma Ocean”) was a native of the Western Regions. He excelled at upholding the Vinaya Piṭaka and had profound entry into the sūtras. In the third year of the Jianyuan reign of Fu Qin, the year xinwei, he translated in Chang'an together with Zhu Fonian: the *Daśādhyāya-bhikṣu-prātimokṣa* (one fascicle); and the *Altar Text for Conferring [the Precepts] to Two-Year [Sikṣamāṇā] Nuns* (one fascicle); in all, two works in two fascicles, with Huize serving as scribe.
